PASCO scientific announces SPARK

My latest project is just being announced. Slated for release later this year, the SPARK helps teach science to kids in grades 6-12. The PASCO system of sensors works with this handheld UMPC to help kids (and teachers) easily experience scientific phenomena and learn scientific principles.

The LUNAR team worked to keep the product simple: few controls, finger-based touch interactions, and clean visual presentation of both hardware and software. SPARK is being greeted with enthusiasm in the educational market.

Among the presenters were Sigi Moesslinger, Alan Cooper, David Cronin, and Bill Buxton.

I was fortunate to be part of the frog design team that worked on this new oven for TurboChef, designing and refining the user interface throughout production. I also helped develop new product ideas for the rest of the kitchen.

Design for the Elderly

"If we are what we use, then it seems the elderly people in today's society are cranky, stupid and tacky. Of course, looking at products made for the elderly really says more about what product designers and manufacturers think the elderly are." -
